Diploma of Football Coaching

Take your passion for football to a professional level, with a comprehensive course providing all-round skills in football coaching. Obtain the advanced technical skills and knowledge required to deliver football programs in coaching. With employment opportunities as a football coach, it’s the perfect course to ensure your career achieves great results.

This course has been developed under the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) and is a nationally recognised course.

Entry Requirements
Completion of Year 12 or equivalent or Non school-leavers are selected according to eligibility and merit, vocational experience, previous study and personal competencies
or currently employed in the Industry.

Program Duration
Full Time:  18 months       Part Time: 36 months
  • Classes are normally timetabled between 9.00am and 4.00pm, Monday to Thursday
  • Industry placement occurs in 2nd and 3rd semester and students are placed in the work place once a week in addition to normal classes
  • Hands-on components occur throughout the course
N.B. Face to face and correspondence courses can be tailored to an individual or group’s specific needs and requirements. Course Commencement
Course commences in February, April, July and September each year for full time and part time applicants.

Successful completion of this program may assist students to gain entry into university and/or may contribute towards study credits.

Delivery Methods
This course is delivered through face to face classroom learning, online learning at students' self pace or by correspondence and can also be offered as a traineeship.

Assessment Methods
Students are required to participate in practical activities, complete assignments, presentations, vocational projects, observation, role plays and recognition of prior learning (RPL). Assessment opportunities will be endorsed as a cluster where applicable.  If a suitable strategic goal is not identified then a recognised resource will be implemented.

Recognition of Prior Learning
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process where a student may be granted credit or partial credit towards a qualification in recognition of skills and knowledge gained through work experience, life experience and/or formal training.

Accreditation

Qualifications granted by ASA are accredited by the Queensland Government through the Department of Education, Training and the Arts. This program is nationally recognised under the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF). ASA National Training Provider No. 31717

Course Structure

The course structure of the Diploma of Football Coaching comprises thirty three (33) units of competency from the national qualification. The 33 units are made up of:
  • nine (9) core/compulsory units
  • seven (7) specialist stream units from the functional area of coaching
  • five (5) specialist units from the area of swimming
  • twelve (12) elective units from the football specialisation.
The approved nominal reporting hours of delivery for Diploma of Football coaching is 606 Hours.

N.B. If a student is attempting the Diploma of Football Coaching without having completed the Certificate IV in Diploma of Football Coaching, the student will be required to complete a further 21 pre requisite units.
